Lizard vs. Killer Croc
written by Jeff McCloskey
The Lizard had been on the run for several months now, traveling underground as much as possible. Spiderman had defeated him for the final time that day, but was unable to turn him back to Curt Connors. It was time the Lizard went elsewhere, so as not to hurt anymore people, like his beautiful wife.
Now, he was in the sewers of Gotham City, a place where he might be able to start over for himself, without any contact with the outside world. He stepped through the wet cement pipes, looking for an open area to rest for a while and maybe call home soon. He searched for a few hours without much luck, and then coming to an open area, he heard a scream.
The Lizard ran towards the sound, curious as to who made it. This led him back through the pipes to an even larger opening. It was easily three stories high with a dozen pipes running in and out of it. It was full of water up to the Lizard's ankles. In the middle of the room there was a giant scaled monster, much like him. The Lizard noticed a girl on his shoulder, the source of the screams which were still being echoed through the sewers.
"Well sweetie...I hope your televised kidnapping will let people know where you went, specifically Batman. And since your job is done, I guess that means I won't need you anymore. Now that I think of it, I did skip breakfast, he he he...." The girl's screams intensified.
The young girls face lifted, her eyes teary and her makeup running down her face. She looked just like Mrs. Connors. Something snapped in the Lizard. It let out a huge roar that startled the Croc.
"What is that? Whoa! Who are you!?" Croc dropped the girl, who scrambled to one of the pipes to hide.
"Your a killer!" The Lizard wasted no time at all and leaped right onto the Croc. The Lizard flailed and pummeled the Croc into the ground, causing water to splash in small explosions all around them. Croc grabbed the Lizards' hands and brought his foot into its stomach hard, launching him several yards away. Both jumped to their feet instantly.
The Lizard jumped at the Croc again, but Croc caught its hands. The Lizard wasn't planning on using his hands anyway. The Lizard bit down as hard as he could into the Croc's shoulder. Croc threw the Lizard down on the ground, but the Lizard jumped to his feet before the Croc could follow up.
Croc growled, and to show he wasn't scared, the Lizard roared again. This time, Croc ran at the Lizard, but was too slow and not as agile. The Lizard jumped behind him and then jumped on his back, pushing him to the ground.
The Lizard grabbed the Croc's arms and began to pull them together while standing between Croc's shoulders. Croc began to scream in pain, irritating his opponent. Then, in one painful motion, the Lizard snapped the Crocs arms together, breaking them from the shoulders. This just intensified the screams. Lizard decided to end these all together too.
The Lizard wrapped his tail around his opponent's neck and then jerked it sideways, effectively ending the screams. Blood started to fill the water around the Croc's body. The young girl was still in hiding, afraid the Lizard might be as hungry as the Croc was, but the Lizard knew where she was the whole time. She went to run to one of the other tunnels, but the Lizard jumped in front of her.
"Please! Please let me go! I don't want to die!!" The girl screamed. The Lizard couldn't have cared less now. He opened his jaws, ready to strike when he felt a sharp pain in his head.
"No! I won't! Not...her t...too!" The Lizard fell to his knees in pain. Then, the rough green scales slowly changed into soft pale skin. Curt Connors stood up, both of his arms still on his head. Then he noticed.
"I still have both of my arms! I'm finally cured of this disease," He looked down at the girl, who was still bracing herself for death.
"It's ok, I won't hurt you. I have control of that monster now," He held out his new arm for the girl to take hold of.
"My name's... Doc, my name's Doc. Let's go to the surface," The girl timidly took his hand and they began their search for the surface.
